What Does a Social Media Marketing Agency Do?
Ah, one of the most frequent questions we get asked here at Three Summers Creative; what does a social media marketing agency do? While we sit down at dinner with family members discussing our lives and jobs, we are prepared to give a long, detailed explanation (lucky for you, you have this entertaining blog to read instead of trying to hear us through clanking forks and side chatter. 😉)
What is social media really about?
Personally, it is a place where we can connect with your families, friends, share our life events, laugh at memes, and keep up on that strange aunt you’re afraid to visit. In the business world, it is a direct channel for customer and client connection, advertising, brand awareness, and more. Social media can drum up viral sales and attract more customers – if you do it right.
How is social media managed?
There are two types of social media marketing: management and advertisement. Social media management allows an agency to create dynamic social content on your behalf, engaging your customers, and growing your following. Social media advertising involves paid, targeted campaigns, but more on that later. With social media management, our agency shares responsibility for the following, and engagement of your current and prospective customers on your pages. We monitor comments and messages, interact with your community (referred to as community engagement), ensure you’re posting correctly and efficiently, and continue to help your business reach more eyes.
So what's the deal with social media advertising?
Social media advertising is a big part of any growth-minded business’ social plans. According to HubSpot, 74% of global marketers already invest in social media marketing, which includes social advertising. Also, 70% of businesses say they generate leads on social media and 58% of marketers say social media has helped them boost their sales. The other 30%? Well, they’re missing out.Â
What will a social media marketing agency do?
What we do is defined in three phases: Strategy, Creative, and Implementation.
Strategy. A comprehensive campaign plan that includes defining your target audience and setting clear goals.
Creative. Eye-catching, on-brand ads that easily relate to your business. Anything from images, videos, fonts, colors, written content, CTA buttons, and more.
Implementation. A set advertising budget (referred to in the industry as “spend”) and a set time period where your strategy plus creative is released like flying monkeys to capture new leads and do you bidding. (Ok, not exactly like that, but based on our experience with the internet, we’re pretty sure flying monkeys are somehow involved.)
While the ad is running, our team keeps tabs on your progress by checking click-through rates (CTR), cost per conversion (CPC), and conversion rates.
Another important part of social media advertising is collecting follow-up user info, such as emails. We set up custom integrations to collect emails from anyone interested in your business, your product, or even specific advertisements.
How do I know the posts will be on brand?
We’ll take a deep dive into your brand, audience, and tone to create engaging, informative content your followers expect to see.
How do you know if it's working?
We have specific tools that allow us to pull data from all your social media platforms to create a full report. This report often includes important metrics like engagement, followers, likes, comments, clicks, and much more. This allows us to see what posts are performing better than others, giving us more ideas on what to do to improve your social media presence.
Graphics are cool, but what about the wording?
During our deep dive into your brand, we familiarize ourselves with your tone and voice. This allows us to pair engaging copy with your new eye-catching graphics. Your copy will include focus keywords crafted to leave a strong, specific first impression and clear call to action. (Plus let’s not forget the power of backlinking – using linking within your social content to drive traffic back to your website’s key content).Â
What about my competitors?
Competitor research is very important when it comes to creating content for your business. Taking a look at what your competitors are doing, what works (and doesn’t) for them, and how you can define yourself from them is an imperative part of our process. Cue the, “I can do anything you can do better, I can do anything better than you…” song.
What about industry research?
Industry research is just as important as competitive research. For example, if you own a trucking company, we’ll research and find important days, holidays, etc. that pertain to your industry. (i.e. National Truck Driver Awareness Week is in September – our chance to come up with some copy and graphics specifically for this week.) We got our back so you won’t miss out on any opportunities.Â
Now for the big question: ``Does social media marketing work?``
I placed my fork down, schooling my eyes not to roll at the asker of that common, incredulous question. I thought about the unbroken record of beating every industry benchmark for our clients to date, about the tens of thousands of clients, leads, and emails we had swiftly and systematically funneled to our clients. Always on time. Always under budget… “Would we be here if it didn’t?”
